November is National TMJ Awareness Month
š¦· November is National TMJ Awareness Month, a perfect time to highlight the importance of TMJ (temporomandibular joint) health and its critical role in our overall wellness. At the core of functions like chewing and speaking, the TMJ supports everything from a comfortable, pain-free smile to balanced muscle function and even enhanced airway health. Proper TMJ function is also essential for effective nutrition, as it affects chewing, digestion, and nutrient absorption, all vital to our energy and well-being.
My path into dentistry stems from a young age, I was captivated by precision and detail, whether building model airplanes or finding solutions to intricate problems. Dentistry allows me to combine my passions for meticulous work and compassionate care. My goal is to support each patientās journey toward the level of health they seek, with the highest quality of holistic and biologic care.
I developed a special dedication to helping patients suffering from TMJ disorders, bite misalignment, facial muscle pain, headaches, and the discomfort that comes with a dysfunctional jaw. Seeing the real need for advanced TMJ treatments in my community, I made it my goal to study and deliver comprehensive, minimally invasive TMJ care.
Iām a life-long learner and I have always been driven. I have dedicated a significant amount of my time and energy to studying, researching, and learning about this challenging condition. I embarked on the journey to further advance my skills in the diagnosis and treatment of complex patient cases involving degenerating chewing systems using Bioesthetic Principles, at The OBI Foundation for Bioesthetic Dentistry.
After becoming an OBI Foundation for Bioesthetic Dentistry Level 2 and Level 3 Graduate, I was even more passionate about completing the Level 4 training which focused on 4 areas: (1) Diagnosis and treatment in patients with a severely worn dentition (2) Aspects of interdisciplinary diagnosis, treatment protocol, and case management (3) Transfer of a biologic wax-up into the mouth (4) Minimally invasive full-mouth rejuvenation using composite/crowns.
As we bring awareness to TMJ disorder and the treatment options available during National TMJ Awareness Month, I am excited to share that I have successfully completed OBIās Level 4 curriculum, reaching the achievement of Level 4 āAdvanced Bioesthetic Rejuvenationā Graduate of The OBI Foundation for Bioesthetic Dentistry.
Through this training and ongoing education, I have been able to learn a tremendous amount about degenerative chewing systems and Bioesthetic Principles. Today, I use the information Iāve gained to direct my practice and provide the most comprehensive Biologic TMJ treatment possible.
With a commitment to minimally invasive and scientifically supported treatments, MAGO (Maxillary Anterior Guided Orthotic) Therapy has proven to be a highly effective and transformative solution for my patients experiencing jaw discomfort. During my time at The OBI Foundation for Bioesthetic Dentistry, I had the opportunity to study MAGO Therapy extensively, enhancing my ability to provide this innovative therapy to help bring balance and relief to patients with TMJ issues.
If you or a loved one is experiencing TMJ pain and want to learn more about my MAGO treatment protocol, this month is an ideal time to seek help. My team and I are here to guide you toward relief and a healthier, more comfortable life. Please reach out if youād like to learn how our Bioesthetic approach can support your overall health and wellness.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jonathan J. Bechtel, DDS
